What is B3 Website Hosting?
B3 Website is one of the newest hosting companies on the market. Founded just a few years ago in the UK, in 2014 by two Greek gentlemen named Kyriacos and Angelos. B3 Website is a hosting site for the 21st century, as two of their chief aims are to assist with social media marketing and mobile app development. Their website is sleek, easy-to-navigate and very professional-looking, with a clear eye towards responsive web design.
Services they offer include domain purchase and registration, graphic design, hosting, email services and web development.
In this B3 Website review, I will be reviewing this web hosting site to give you the best information possible so you’ll know whether or not this company fits your hosting needs.
B3 Website Reviews on Hosting Plan and Domain Service
B3 Website hosting plan is not quite as varied as other sites, but it could because they’re a new company and have many years of growth ahead of them. At the time of writing this, B3 Website only provides shared hosting service.
B3 Website shared hosting is always the door to try first when it comes to pricing, packages, etc. Keep in mind that certain hosting features such as “unlimited everything” (domains, number of sites) are often package-based. The shared hosting plan is divided into three tiers: Starter, Unlimited, and Business. The price points for each of these tiers are fair and reasonable based on what you’re given with each tier.
For instance, the Starter tier gives you 5 GB of storage, a free domain with annual plan purchase, one website, and free setup. All this for the original price of €2.54/month, which is quite amazing, given other hosting plans around the Web charge a bit more.
The one feature common to each of these tiers is a 30-day money back guarantee, which is a solid business practice overall, but it only applies to the hosting plan, and not domain purchases, the latter are non-refundable.
Common features with the shared hosting include:
- cPanel
- Personal nameservers
- Webmail, POP3, and IMAP
- PHP MyAdmin
- Javascript
- Ruby-on-Rails
- SSH (Jailed)
- Virus Scanner
- SSL Host Installer
Above is just a short list of shared hosting features, to say nothing of the 250+ available apps you can access within the cPanel. So, even if you move up a level from the Starter package to the mid-level pricing, it will be worth the switch because B3 Website seems to know what’s popular out in the site development world.
B3 Website Reviews on Domain Service
B3 Website is not just a hosting site. They offer domain name purchases as well. You can even do a domain name search to see if your desired name is available. Their pricing for the usual domain extensions (.com, .org) is somewhat more expensive than other sites. If you get a .com or .org, for instance, the original purchase price and the renewal price stays the same, but it costs more if you’re looking to transfer a domain.
However, the pricing for various domain extensions and their renewal and transfer costs seems to be all over the board, in general. There is no real sense of true organization to pricing levels, as some hosting sites might have. Despite their seemingly haphazard way of pricing certain extensions, they are currently running specials on certain domains so you might want to check those out.
B3 Website SSL Certificate
Unlike NameCheap, their SSL certificate seems to be on the pricey side. However, if you need that SSL protection, especially for multiple websites where you are storing sensitive information, you might want also to check that out.
The lowest SSL price is €49.99/year (you can round up to €50 if that makes for easier arithmetic in your budget planning). With that, you can protect one website and one domain. You get free setup, a $10K warranty, and a 15-day refund. True, that’s not a huge window for a money-back offer, but it’s likely they did that because in reality, how often is someone going to ask for a refund for SSL protection?
The highest price point for SSL is €99.99/year, and that’s protecting all subdomains if you choose to use subdomains.
B3 Website Reviews on WordPress Hosting
WordPress is one of the most popular CMS (Content Management System). So, B3 Website has a specific, 3-tiered WordPress hosting plan in place for those who want to use WordPress exclusively. This plan is not as “optimized” as the hosting plans that BlueHost has, to be fair, but each tier (Startup, Big, and Developer) has its own level of available storage.
The prices for each of these tiers (€2.99, €4.99, and €9.99 respectively) are displayed in Euros, though there is a one-click “converter” at the very bottom of the site, enabling you to switch the displayed prices. However, at the time of this writing, there seems to be a bug, because it will not switch from Euros to GBP, and it doesn’t seem to switch from Euros to American or Australian dollars, either. I hope to see B3 Website fixes this issue soon.
The fact that they have a separate plan for WordPress is good. It means they recognize the kind of space a WordPress site takes up, especially if their customers anticipate having at least 10,000 visitors a month. You also really can’t beat the price points for each of these levels either, considering other WordPress plans on other sites cost a good deal more. So, if you are specifically looking to try using WordPress for the first time, this hosting site could easily be the proverbial foot in the door for you.
B3 Website Reviews on Email Hosting
B3 Website is one of those somewhat-rare hosting sites that allow private email hosting, which you can set up via Android, Apple, and Microsoft devices. They do have webmail, but as of this writing, I can only assume they have the classic webmail clients: RoundCube, Horde, and Squirrelmail.
There are only three main email hosting packages: Personal, Business and Business Pro. The prices are very reasonable, even for Business Pro, which costs €3.99/month, with 10GB of storage included. Additionally, just for the “Personal” level, it costs only €0.99/month. You don’t even get that with NameCheap.
On top of all this, you have the webmail service, plus Mobile Support and device-syncing ability. For a fledgling company, they are definitely on the right track.
B3 Website Reviews on Support and Customer Service
B3 Website is chiefly based in the UK, also available in Greek and Cyprus. People from the US can pay for B3 Website’s services, they have to call a non-US number in order to get phone support, as the only phone support they have is from the UK, Cyprus, and Greece. They have several documentation sections set up as a knowledge base, but as they are a very new company, there is a scant amount of information in some of the sections.
If you can’t find the information you need in the knowledge base, the best solution is to either contact B3 Website via any one of their phone numbers or support Email for general questions. It’s not often you see a hosting site with many email support addresses and each one for a specific aspect of the hosting site.
Again, they are new, so support tickets are not their focus support system at the moment, but it’s likely they’ll add it if someone lets them know that it’s a good idea. As for multilingual support, because they have two other locations other than the UK, it’s clear that multilingual support is available.
Besides, they have a live chat app available. You can chat to them directly via the live chat. Now for the big question on everyone’s mind: does B3 Website have 24/7 customer support?
This is actually sort of a confusing thing, because on their front page, they say they have 24/7 support, but their phone hours are stated thusly:
- UK: 9 AM to 9 PM (21:00 hrs)
- Cyprus: 11 AM to 11 PM (23:00 hrs)
- Greece: 11 AM to 11 PM (23:00 hrs)
So their statement of 24/7 support is rather misleading, as these are 12-hour time periods, and not 24/7.
Many other B3 Website reviews have said that the support staff was polite, helpful and knowledgeable about solving problems. B3 Website looks promising in this sector of their business.
B3 Website Reviews on Uptime Performance and Server Status
According to the scant number of actual customer reviews and testimonials, the promised uptime percentage is 99%, and B3 Website seems to deliver on this. But because there is truly a scant number of candid customer reviews about this aspect of B3 Website, the jury, as they say, is “still out” on how much actual downtime really occurs. They do not have a server status page on their site, at least not yet. Again, we may just need to give them some time as they go through their “growing pains.”
Good and Bad of B3 Website
Good
- Good customer service options for being such a young company.
- Literally rock-bottom prices for shared hosting.
- Forward-thinking company with responsive web design in mind.
- Easy-to-navigate website.
Bad
- Customer service is not actually 24/7 as stated on their front page.
- Noticeable code bugs or other communication/lack of service errors that don’t necessarily hinder the function of the site, but instead unconsciously mislead and confuse people.
- Not a lot of data in their knowledge base yet. Could just be an indicator of how new the company is, but it could put a strain on the customer service staff, thus increasing wait times for responses to phone calls.
- No domestic support numbers for US and Australia. This can get expensive for some people who have to use their landlines and don’t have smartphones with plans that cover international calls.
Summary of B3 Website
Overall, if you want cheap hosting plans, and you like the fact that B3 Website is a young company with forward-thinking, this is the hosting site for you.
That said, they don’t have as many features and specialized hosting as a company that’s “tried-and-true” with a lot of their growing pains behind them.
It looks like they’re setting themselves up to be very WordPress-friendly, since they have separate hosting for that particular CMS, though they do offer Drupal and Joomla hosting solution.
B3 website’s creators are leading the pack, and if you’re keen to join them as they grow, then this is clearly the hosting solution for you.
